I really don't know how to describe my feelings toward this book.

I do think it is a masterpiece. The writing is great, original in its pacing and it serves the progression of the story greatly to have flashbacks every now and then.

I loved the characters, especially Victor, Mitch and Sidney. Victor is an icon, an evil genius still bothered by some remnant of rightness in his mind. I find his duality really interesting and I'm so glad villains are the focus of this book.
Eli, on the other hand, was more difficult to love. There was some sort of hypocrisy about him. He considers himself a hero for killing EOs, yet he is one himself, he's a monster just like the others but wont admit it even to himself. He's constantly fighting his inner nature, and I sometimes felt like he hated who he was. But, he also revels in this hero personna he created. He's a very complicated anti-hero and a great character too. But I didnt want him to win the fight against Victor.

Everything going on between Eli and Victor had me on the edge of my seat. I loved every interaction between them and I was so excited for them to meet again (and anxious about their fate). The atmosphere surrounding this hunt was gripping as hell.

The worldbuilding is also great, it looks like our world but somehow darker, less safe, with some form of dark magic looming over. Got me in immediately.

To sum up, I would 100% recommend this book. The plot is uncommon, greatly done, everything is gripping and the characters loveable while being completely fucked up. That's a 5/5 read for me!!
