I loved this 1920s historical magical realism romance. This was relatively low angst/stakes but still so interesting, I loved the worldbuilding and side characters (this is my first of the series and can confirm this is easily a standalone). I loved the vulnerability of our main character and how and when he was able to open up. I loved the heists too and was so surprised by the magic at play in this story. This was such an easy and swoony read, highly recommend! There’s also causal gender expression rep in this which was chefs kiss
