I thought this book was just strangely devoid of personality. The characters had vague characteristics which made me disinclined to care for them. Most plot points seemed to come out of nowhere. Middle sister’s interactions with Milkman were the most interesting parts of the book but those parts were few and far between for a book literally called Milkman. I didn't feel like those interactions were well fleshed out, or anchored the novel in any kind of tense or anticipatory way. It felt very lacklustre to me.
