I finally read Pride and Prejudice after hearing my mom rave about it (and the BBC adaptation—shelves in the closet, anyone?) for twenty years, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Though I did, upon finishing volume the first, text my brother to ask whether I might be reading it wrong: I was confused about why everyone hated Mr. Darcy when I would "totally lavender marry this autistic gentleman." I am a Mr. Darcy apologist, and I will die on this hill. The book also has a lot of clever comedic language use, which is always fun.
