Under the Tuscan Sun: 20th-Anniversary Edition
by Frances Mayes
Fun at first, then annoying over time. Maybe it's just sour grapes and maybe it's because I don't particularly like memoirs, but I lost interest in reading about Mayes over-privileged life. She casually tosses out tidbits of her backstory without filling in much. However, grout decisions on the new house are laid out in painstaking measure. I understand details such as her divorce are not central to the immediate story she is telling, but some revelation on her upbringing, personal journey and character sure would make me more invested in reading boring details of her pet project.
