Every Secret Thing by Laura Lippman

4.0

Maybe three and a half stars. I'm going to have to space the Lippman books out--they're well-written and deftly plotted, and the characters have detailed, intriguing backstories. They're like a meal you enjoy eating--say, pork BBQ-- but can't eat too often without spoiling the sensation that you're getting a treat.

What I liked about the book was the rather prosaic resolution--lots of crime stories shoot for the big twist at the end. This one let the pieces come together into a story that made sense, but didn't fit too tidily together.
