The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

funny

4.25

“I want to know what's going on in your brain. I want to juice your head like a lemon.”

There’s something about Sally Thorne’s writing that I just click with. This is the second novel of hers I’ve read, and I’ve never encountered characters quite like hers. They’re quirky and odd, and unashamedly themselves. It’s refreshing and often funny.

With the premise of this one and the heavy foreshadowing at the beginning, I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did. But she brought it around and it was a lot of fun. I really liked Josh and Lucy (sidebar: what’s with Thorne and older generation names? Lucinda in this book, Ruthie in Second First Impressions).

Anyway. Will be reading more Thorne in the future. Out of all the authors I’ve read and loved, she would probably be the one I’d pick to hang out with. With how odd her characters are, I think we’d get along? 😂😂
