This book had me guessing from the start - and I was wrong on all accounts! When Lydia, the missing wife of Luca Coletto shows up on the doorstep of their house 9 years later and his current wife Merritt - mother to a toddler and 8 months pregnant with their next child- answers the door - the craziness ensues. It’s a cat-and-mouse game from the beginning. Why didn’t Lydia go to the police? Why does Merritt try to befriend Lydia? What is going on with Luca and who is he going to choose? And more importantly, what happened to Lydia 9 years ago? Just when the details start to unravel and you think you know where the story is going and you get onboard with how it’s going to play out, the author, Minka Kent, pulls the rug out from under you and throws a twist to change the trajectory again, giving you a bit of whiplash and making you gasp! This was my first Minka Kent book and I would definitely read another one if all of them are like this. (Once again, GoodReads, I wish your rating system incorporated 1/4 and 1/2 stars as I believed this was more than 4 stars probably 4-1/4 or 4-1/2 stars, but not quite a full 5 stars.)
