Record of a Spaceborn Few
by Becky Chambers
Similar to the previous entry in Wayfarers, Record of a Spaceborn Few focuses on life in the GC. Instead of having a single goal that all characters are headed towards, we get to see them living life on the Exodus fleet. There is a clear character arc for all of the characters and they subtly interact with each other but each individual journey is that, an individual journey. The depth with which the author grasps with life on a long term space ship is amazing and a treat to read, especially because the nuance of such life is acknowledged and dealt with. If you're looking for a gripping thriller, this isn't the book for you. However, if you're looking for a book that dives deep into the everyday experience of life in space from multiple perspectives, how lives intersect and go on despite the challenges and changes around the characters, this is absolutely the book for you.
