The Eve Illusion by Giovanna Fletcher, Tom Fletcher

fast-paced

3.0

I can't pretend this is good but it is an enjoyable, quick read. It was a guilty pleasure read: flew through it, it was easy and addictive. I am looking forward to the next book 👀

BUT: Juvenile writing, behaviour etc

This book is just characters constantly running around with a predictable plot (although some elements are still surprising).

I feel like there were so many opportunities the Fletchers could have taken to create a really fascinating world, but they just didn't.

  • In a world of only men, why are men having actual relationships and loving eachother pretty much never mentioned?
  • The flaws in the sci fi don't bother me because it's creative fiction, what do you expect, BUT there are a lot flaws
  • Surely violent torture would be easier and more painful than whatever Wells tries out
  • It's a man's world but the violence of men living together and negative male relationships isn't really touched upon

Again, it's not good. But the characters, plot, and general story are engaging enough to keep reading.

LAST POINT: IT ENDS ON A CLIFFHANGER. IMO it's such bad writing to end on cliffhanger. Grow up and write an ending
