OMG how did we get from 3 stars about half way into the book to 5 stars when I finished??!!!
This s book was great!
But let me tell you in few words…
We follow Darby, a college student, that just before Xmas receives news that her mother has cancer and is going into surgery. It’s a middle of winter in Colorado, but she decides she’ll drive to her home town. Well… she doesn’t get too far as a snow storms starts and puts her plans on hold. She turns into a rest stop and decides to wait the storm out in there. There’s 4 strangers stranded there with her. While searching for a phone service / reception trying to contact her family, she notices a little hand through a window of one of the trucks in the car park. Seeing the padlock on the van doors, she suspects there’s a child inside, which later on turns out to be true.
And we go from there… 😅

At first, I thought I wouldn’t give this book more than 3 stars. It was a bit slow to be honest. Also, I didn’t like the fact that we found out who the villains were so early in the story, because I thought: how are we going to proceed from here if we know the baddies? but as it was interesting enough I kept on reading. And boy I was so right to!!! This story takes a turn and suddenly things are happening so quickly! It becomes a story of survival, bravery and heroism. And there’s some good gore and brutality too! Loved how these scenes were described!!

Darby is such a cool character! Absolutely loved her!!! I love how she evolved and developed in this book! And she was so clever too!

There was a point towards the very end when I thought that the author shouldn’t have used the same scenario twice, but it made sense when it was resolved.

Oh! And I loved the ending 🫢
