The Sports Gene: Inside the Science of Extraordinary Athletic Performance by David Epstein

1.0

The Sports Gene: Inside the Science of Men’s Extraordinary Athletic Performance after we established that the only female athletes worth paying attention to are the ones with high male hormones.

A well-researched book that reads very well... and also unfortunately subscribes to the regretful trend of glazing over the athletic significance of female sport instead of addressing the tremendous gap in both research and cultural discourse on the topic of female athleticism.

Unfortunately insanely disappointed. If you want to read some theories condensed into a readable popular science style about why some men become elite athletes, this is the book for you. If you were hoping to catch a few more details about the world of women’s sport as well, all you’ll find is something that comes down to ‘be as physiologically similar to a male human as possible... and then profit’.
