The Summer Book
by Tove Jansson
lighthearted
relaxing
slow-paced
This book was one of the last books that I read in the summer, & I thought that it was perfect for the season because it was slow & relaxing, yet extremely enchanting & so descriptive of the island life that the main character, Sophia, & her grandma lived in Finland that it felt like a fever dream. Each chapter is only a few pages long, & it doesn’t really have a story line & / or a linear plot. They’re more like stills, vignettes, & / or moments or slices of life, making it a very quick & easy read, one that you can even finish in a day if you have the time.
