Forbidden King by Laura Pavlov

(full disclosure, I am writing this review after finishing the entire series!)

Brother’s best friend trope lovers, check-in! We have Saylor (Hayes’s sister) who just recently finished up her MBA and is back in Magnolia Falls to open up her own romance bookstore (go, girl!) and Kingston “King” who co-owns a construction company and working on Saylor’s reno project, is Hayes’s best friend, and can’t seem to bury his feelings for his best friend’s little sister. I loved that we got a glimpse of their shared history in this book! We’d gotten some snippets in prior books that we could kind of piece together, but seeing the full picture made me love them even more.

I’d definitely recommend reading if you enjoy the following tropes:
• brother’s best friend
• small town
• reformed playboy(ish)
• “it’s always been you”
• band of brothers

2 teeny tiny minor gripes:

I enjoyed this book more BEFORE they got together. I was really enjoying this book, and I’d hit the 40% mark and they still weren’t together (woo hoo!) but then they did get together…and then that follows into my second gripe…

After finishing the first 2 books, I’m sensing a pattern…every time it’s gets down to the spice— it’s basically the same things we got in book 1 & 2. The men turn into the same blueprinted character. It’s still good, but I’d like some variety please. Also, why is she always on top almost -every- time? (in open-door scenes)
