Really enjoyed reading this over the Christmas break.  Eilis and her experiences are relatable. Although her choices are questionnable and often times you're left wondering if she really loves Tony or not you still identify with her. The book strikes a chord with those who have moved abroad and know what it means to feel homesick and clinging to any comfort you can find.  Toibin writes the experiences and his characters well and the story gives a good insight into Irish and American society in the 1950's.  Would recommend as a light read if you're looking for a book that incapsulates you and allows you to read through quickly.
