The Stand by Stephen King

5.0

I have to admit that when I finished this book I was so mad at it for being as long as it is that I wanted to give it a very bad review, but it's been almost a year since I've read it and the more it sits with me the more I love it. The world and characters that Stephen King creates in The Stand feel so palpable that I remember parts of this book as I would remember people that used to be in my life. This book took me around a month to read, and the whole time I was reading it I was so immersed in the world that it felt like I was living a double life. Watching the characters grow into people that I either loved or deeply hated, feeling their tragedy and despair as if it were my own. Scenes from this book still show up in my dreams a year later.
