I ended up enjoying this :) I found it a drag for the first half basically. it was engaging enough to keep me reading but I wasn't very invested. the promise of romance kept me reading I must admit. however in the second half I enjoyed it a lot more! I enjoyed the development of the relationship. I do quite like mariel as a character, she's compelling, although following the typical beats and tropes. clem I found i didn't ever really understand or felt like she was a real fully formed character. the side characters as well weren't well developed and real for me, which didn't leave me the most invested in them and what happened to them. I felt the plot was boring for a while, but then got more interesting. was worth the read to be an easy light read to pass the time and relax :)
