Warning: You need to read The Initiation first before picking up The Obsession.

I'm not going to get into the plot of The Obsession because of spoilers, but basically the premise of the Filthy Rich Americans series revolves around the all-powerful, ultra-rich Hale family. Our heroine, Marist Northcott, is the opposite of her elegant, refined, and socially confident older sister Emily. There's been an understanding between the Hales and the Northcotts that Emily will marry Royce Hale. That is, until they found out that Emily was pregnant after sleeping with one of her college professors. Unfortunately, the Northcotts were also on the verge of bankruptcy and the only way to save her family is for Marist to take Emily's place and marry Royce herself. It turns out there's more to the Hales than meets the eye and it will take all of Marist's wits to survive their wicked games, lies, and manipulations all the while trying to not fall in love with Royce...

The Obsession picks up right after that killer of a cliffhanger in The Initiation. The twists and turns The Obsession took--I seriously could not guess what will happen next. It was a complete ride and I am completely obsessed!

Marist is my favorite Nikki Sloane heroine. I absolutely love her! She is smart, resourceful, and can play the game with the best of them. I love Royce too! We don't get as many scenes with him and Marist in this book, but the ones we do get I ate them up (*ahem* that shower scene tho *fans self*). Even though the story is told through Marist's perspective, you can infer what Royce going (through even though Marist might not see it herself) and I felt for the guy. But, the most interesting character in The Obsession was Royce's father, Macalister Hale. You think you had him figured out, but he's a complicated man. I actually don't know how I feel about him...

The Obsession does end in another killer of a cliffhanger, but the final book in the trilogy will be out in November (not too long of a wait, thank goodness!). I am seriously DYING to know how the story will conclude and I'm counting down to the day I can get my greedy hands on it. But, since it's from the deliciously wicked mind of Nikki Sloane, I know it's going to be mind-blowing just like each of the book in this series.

If you're into dark romances with unpredictable twists and turns and morally gray characters, I highly recommend you pick up the Filthy Rich Americans series. It will be your next obsession!
