Message in a Bottle by Nicholas Sparks

1.0

This was boring and cliche'. I knew what the big conflict would be from the start, but it didn't happen until close to the end, then Sparks gives us an ending he knows is supposed to make us cry. A few other issues: I get it. Theresa is beautiful. Everyone keeps talking about her how thin and blonde and beautiful and shapely and attractive and every word you can think of to describe beauty. Even Theresa knows she's beautiful; she stares at herself in the mirror at one point admiring her own body. And what's with the emphasis on Theresa being about 4 years older than Garrett? It's mentioned in passing a few times, but no one ever actually has a conversation about it. Last, give me a freaking plot already! I don't need to read in detail about how someone sets the table. I know that you get out the utensils and then you find some plates and set them on the table and then oh look there's some candles, which is nice because the dining room light is just a little too bright, and now let's set it all out on the table... BLAH BLAH BLAH. Cheesy, boring, predictable, and not well written. Maybe I'd like the movie, but since it has Kevin Costner (aka the second worst actor in the world), I seriously doubt it.
