A Very Long Engagement by Sébastien Japrisot

4.0

A sad, sweet story about a "white widow" from WWI in France. A white widow is someone who was engaged to a soldier who died, but since they never married, was ineligible to receive any death benefits from the government. At any rate, the girl does not believe her fiance actually died, and she spends a long time trying to figure out just what happened to him on the night he allegedly died.
