Normal People by Sally Rooney

5.0

This is the exact style of writing I enjoy the most. Descriptive prose about everyday people, experiencing heartache, navigating new social situations, making big mistakes, making minute mistakes.

I wouldn't say this book is for everyone. It doesn't have a normal structure, in my mind, because there is not really a tipping point. It is just a book that walks aside two very flawed characters and their relationship and coming of age while addressing class disparities, domestic abuse, depression, climate change, etc. while still being hopeful.

Content warning: depression, suicide, domestic abuse, verbal abuse, poverty, sex
