Mad Ship by Robin Hobb

5.0

Star Rating: 5 stars

Note: This is the 2nd book in the Liveship Traders trilogy and the 5th book in the overall Realm of the Elderlings series.

At the end of last year, I got in a massive traditional, classic, epic fantasy mood so I decided to try a lot of the different famous series, and the one I am currently making my way thorough is Robin Hobb’s Realm of the Elderlings series. I have decided that I will try to read 1 book a month, and this month I picked up Mad Ship. The Liveship trilogy tells a very complex, complicated, and multi-layered story of Vestrit family and all the machinations, conspiracies, and plots that they inadvertently get swept up in.

The best thing about this book is the development that the characters over the course of this story. A lot of the characters that I hated in the 1st book became characters that I actually admired in this book, such as Malta and Keffria. Also, I loved the discussions that the characters in this book such as the ones about slavery and independence.

Basically, if you enjoyed Robin Hobb or classic, epic, traditional fantasy, then I really think you should give this book and the entire series a try. 5 stars!!!!!
