A Vow So Bold and Deadly by Brigid Kemmerer
4.0

War has come to both kingdoms. Brother against brother. Friend against friend. Loyalties and love tested until their breaking point. And the Enchantress is back, wreaking havoc upon Rhen and the others.

The final book in the cursebreaker series. I was pretty excited to read this book and see where the characters ended up. My favorite is Lia Mara and Grey. I found myself devouring their chapters. I enjoyed their love story more then Rhen and Harper’s. Honestly Rhen and Harper are kind of a hot mess and I really didn’t care if they ended up together or not. I still enjoyed their chapters, just not as much.

Rhen is definitely a tortured soul in this book. He wasn’t perfect and I found myself not liking him half the time, but he also had to make some pretty difficult decisions. He did what he believed was best, even when it seemed like the harshest choice. He would definitely benefit from therapy.

Out of all three of the books, this one has the most blood shed. All of that surrounds Lilith and her cruelty. Despite that, I still found myself thinking she was such an interesting character and I wanted to know more about her and how she become the villain. Because there were glimpses, very few, where I could sense the pain and anguish she harbored.

My biggest complaint about this book is the ending. It fell flat to me. If this wasn’t the last book in the series, I would have liked it, but there were still far too many loose ends not tied up. Rhen was incredibly annoying, even though I understood why. Everything he had thought he known was taken from him and he needed to replan his life. But we don’t get the satisfaction of that. We don’t get the satisfaction of brothers uniting. Only a glimpse. And the relationships with their loves didn’t feel complete either.

Still a good book, just wanted more from the ending.
