The Haunting of Sunshine Girl
by Paige McKenzie
The first third of this book was SO creepy, I loved it! I enjoyed the main character Sunshine and the relationship with her mother. They have moved from Texas to a small, rainy town in Washington because of mom's job. The love interest (because it's YA, and NOBODY can last a month past 16 without a love interest!) is enjoyable enough, if a little too convenient, as Nolan plays a big part in Sunshine's revelation into who she is and what she is meant to do.
Half way through, the story turned into something completely different. It stopped being about the haunting really, and definitely stopped being creepy. The story became more about Sunshine and her 'destiny', which is all I can say without spoilers. After the middle, it went pretty downhill for me and I lost some interest. The story became predictable and just a bit ridiculous.
