Novelist as a Vocation
by Haruki Murakami
"as long as i am confident that i did everything i should have done, without stinting, there is nothing i need to fear. i can place my future in the hands of time. if we treat time with all the respect, prudence, and courtesy it deserves, it will become our ally."
i just love haruki murakami's nonfiction works. i really like the way he expresses his thoughts on various topics & it's really fun to listen to as an audiobook. i really enjoyed "what i talk about when i talk about running" at the time that i read it, and this was no different. i find these books to feel very companionable in a way, and they're usually sure to make me see at least some things from an at least slightly different viewpoint. i should definitely read more essay collections, i'm very open to recommendations!
