Dreaming of Palestine: A Novel of Friendship, Love & War by Randa Ghazy

4.0

I find it extremely incredible that the author wrote this book and published it at the age of fifteen. Her stunning writing, believable characters, everything was simply impeccable.

Being of Palestinian decent myself, I have always been curious to learn more about this era. This book accurately depicts life in Palestine during the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the horrors associated with this war.

I found myself falling in love with these characters. They were all so real and although were going through unimaginable suffering, still had hope.

I am so glad that an author has provided an accurate look into a subject that is very sensitive. Some people may say that it is "anti-Semitic", a blatantly false statement. It merely provides people who are unaware of the conflict perspective and understanding. The Palestinian side of the conflict is a bit lacking in Western media, so this book is essential in order to give people a look into the mind of a Palestinian.

This book affected me in ways I did not anticipate. Rarely has a book affected me to this extent. That ending crushed me. It showed how cruel life is, and what people are forced to go through not only in Palestine, but in areas all over the globe.
