Devilish. Retelling. Devastating.

The story follows Loki, God of Mischief, when he awakens in a church after being imprisoned for 500 years and retells his heartbreaking story of love, loss and plans for revenge.

•°¯`•• Spoiler Alert! ••´¯°•
I absolutely adored Loki’s character: his sarcastic wit, his arrogance and his fierce protectiveness of Sigyn were a perfect combination for me. I loved watching his character arc as his love for Sigyn changed him. And I do love a villain, it’s just such a shame his villain origin story came at such a high cost. Her death was traumatic and gave me serious Hercules and Megara vibes.

My only frustration (and I still don’t think that’s the right word) is that this story has kept very close to original Norse stories, including the god’s physical appearances. Now, I’m a millennial obsessed with Marvel so I can’t see Loki as anyone but dark-haired Tom Hiddleston, never mind a mane of flowing ginger hair! But this is a personal preference and didn’t take away from the story.

Overall, I loved this retelling of Loki and I can’t wait to see what havoc he wreaks on the world for revenge in book 2!
