Dark, writhing, and fascinating, My Darling Dreadful Thing is a masterful contribution to the gothic horror genre.

The novel expounds cleverly upon many of the classic gothic horror themes and motifs, each with enough of a twist to keep me coming back for more.

The way that the more ghastly narrative intertwined with the legal and clinical settings of the framing device was a particular treat. The juxtaposition of narrative styles beautifully complemented the explorations of gender politics, sapphicism, and surreal experiences.

The next time I'm chatting about gothic horror, this book will be the first thing on my mind.
