General Comments: A conflict between morality and amorality and an appetite for grimace-inducing violence; filled with crackling dialogue and sumptuous description. Loosely inspired by Dutch Republic-Era Amsterdam. The protagonists are resplendent in their individuality and characterisations; however, the displayed wisdom and traits of the protagonists does not reflect characters of adolescent age.

Favourite Quote: ‘No mourners. No funerals. Among them, it passed for ‘good luck’.’

Time Read: Three Days.

→ Audiobook Narrator: Jay Snyder, Brandon Rubin, Fred Berman, Lauren Fortgang, Roger Clark, Elizabeth Evans, and Tristan Morris.
