schwab has a delicious grasp of the world, and writes with such humor and elegance that it's hard not to fall in love with these characters (even though she can often suffer from "not like other girls" syndrome... i still adore lila to the ends of the earth). this definitely feels like a second book -- the plot meanders and some of the characters' actions feel unjustified or hastily excused at times -- but overall, kell & co. pull you in and don't let you go until the very last page.
