Summer of Night by Dan Simmons

5.0

Holy Cow. This book hooked me from the first chapter and held me until the last. It specifically hit close to home taking place in the Midwest. This was the third book I've read by Dan Simmons, and he has shot to the top among my favorite horror writers. This book took the feel and character development/description of Stephen King's IT/The Body, and mashed it straight into Clive Barker/H.P. Lovecraft craziness. It's very rare that I get a genuine Stephen King feeling without it feeling like a King ripoff. Simmons is such a wonderfully articulate writer. The man is a genius with dialogue and covering all his bases. I 100% recommend if you want horror, mystery, suspense, thriller and more. I loved it. Can't wait to read more Simmons.
