Full confession: Cowboy romances and stories aren't usually my thing, however, I'm a fan of the author and thought I'd give this a try. Turns out, cowboy romances are still NOT my thing. As much as I wanted to love the story and the characters, I found all the cowboy language and terminology over the top and cringey. It just felt so forced throughout the whole book and dampened my enjoyment.
When I started the book, I had somehow missed that it was as short as is it, (which is totally on me and not the author's fault) so the pace at which everything happened took me off guard. I don't typically mind Instalove too much, but everything in this happened so fast there was no real lead up. I wanted more flirting and fun leading up to them getting together. It was so rushed it was hard to believe their chemistry, especially given the trouble they'd had finding connections with others in the past. I honestly didn't feel invested in whether or not Wylie stayed.
So, yeah. This book wasn't really for me. It was a fun slice of life story with cozy vibes and pretty much zero angst, so if that's what you're looking for, this book will be perfect for you.
