sanaastoria 's review for:
The Thousand Names
by Django Wexler
[4.5 Stars] I really enjoyed this one, but I don't think it is for everyone. First before I even start this review I want to say that yes the prologue is confusing and yes it does lighten up significantly so don't worry to much if you don't understand a thing. That being said let's move on to the review proper.
If you like slow paced military fantasy with little magic, then you will really enjoy this book. The writing is also really fantastic. I love how Django Wexler manages to make the prose in a military fantasy book so freaking pretty! The character development is also phenomenal. The female friendships in particular were really well done because hey females need to have female friends as well. There is also a character that identifies as lesbian in this book, and her characterization was very well done and not over-sexualized in the least. The last thing I want to say is that I did feel that this book could have had a little more conflict, particularly in the second half, but your mileage may vary because it didn't bug me that much. That being said, I loved this book! Check out my video review down below!
