Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson

This book did a few things extremely well, the world building is impressive, and the gothic magical imagery is very immersive. As for everything else, like plot, characters, it was all just okay. We could have used more pages solely focusing on building side characters so I would actually care about their fates.
I had a shitty week so this provided all the magical escapism I needed.
