3.5 stars. There are some very thought-provoking insights about America and race in this book — however, those are bogged down by a plot that just felt dragged out and largely uneventful. The last 1/4 of the book was probably the best; I spent most of the book kind of wondering when the goal of the story was going to reveal itself.
