Xalien the Purple Alien: Xmas Special #4 by Michelle Path

4.0

Xalien the alien returns for a Christmas visit! This is a really festive little book for children at Christmas, full of trademark Xalien fun!
Xalien pops down the chimney on Christmas Eve on a surprise visit for the children. They teach her all about their Christmas tradition, from stockings to snowballs, and – as usual – Xalien has a unique take on them all!
The Christmas special is full of the usual Xalien artwork bringing the story for life, but the blocks of text in this book are a little longer than in the original Xalien book, so it’s more suitable for a slightly older audience. However, every double page spread has a big picture on one page and a beautiful festive border around the text on the other.
The book is all about introducing Xalien to new customs and traditions, and inviting her to share in the celebrations. Although it’s set at Christmas, the children don’t mention religion to Xalien, so this could be a really good book for showing children that they can share the festive spirit with friends from all sorts of backgrounds. And Xalien enjoys learning and getting involved!
Xalien is still up to the same old tricks throughout the book, floating in the garden and sleeping in the closet. She also shows off some new talents we didn’t know she had! And as usual, she learns so many things from the children, giving them a really sweet present at the end, showing just how much she enjoys being included.
