Spoils of War by Kari Gregg
4.0

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I usually do when reading anything by Kari Gregg. However, as I also usually feel when reading her work, I would have liked this to have been longer and gone deeper into the main relationship. I always feel like I didn't get to spend enough time with the characters, or maybe that the characters aren't that unique. I did love Micah very much, but I have no interest in getting the sequel, especially since this was so thoroughly wrapped up at the end (with the epilogue).

This book has a very high amount of erotic content, which I loved, and there was also a little angst on Micah's part, which I'm always a sucker for.
SpoilerMicah's being mute and having to learn how to talk, and how he grappled with the idea of being the master of a slave when he felt so much like a slave himself was what kept me reading.
Gregg handled that very well. The writing was also just extremely solid all-around; it was very readable, and Micah's voice was definitely unique when compared to Gregg's other work.

I'd recommend it for readers who like arranged marriage tropes (even if this one doesn't quite qualify) and loving D/s relationships (though Micah's backstory/the beginning of the book is quite dark).
