The Palace of Eros
by Caro De Robertis
This deserves so many more stars. The book should have a lot more attention than it currently does. I haven’t read something like this before in my life and I doubt I’ll read another book like it.
Take the classic tale of Psyche and Eros. However, give zeros a gender fluid identity. The change was orchestrated so incredibly well that I had to google the story to make sure I didn’t miss something. Their relationship with Psyche and the adversity faced was tangible.
Can I talk about the writing? This book contained a lot of really great and descriptive details. It painted a really beautiful picture.
I really enjoyed my time with this book. It changed me. At least, it changed the way I understood myself. That doesn’t happen with everything I read.
