This book is a big change for the series. The tone and content of this book get a lot darker and Pip crosses a line that she can't walk back.
The murder investigator now has to evade investigators of a murder she committed (could be argued to be in self-defense).
Though the change was harsh, I could understand the progression. Pip has been through so much trauma and has lost faith in society and justice, so I see what led her to do what she did. Reading this book had me stressed and on the edge of my seat, but I also kinda wished for the tone and stakes of the first book.
Ravi is a real ride or die though.
