This feels like the kind of book that I really would’ve enjoyed were it assigned to me in a college literature class. I didn’t particularly enjoy reading it for pleasure, though. Perhaps I was in the wrong headspace for it, but reading it felt like an assignment. It felt like an academic pursuit. The story was compelling and thought provoking, but the structure kept taking me out of and making the read feel like work. I recognize the skill of the writing but I didn’t enjoy it.
