The Court of Miracles

I get it, we all had a phase idolising Eponine and making up edgy and dramatic dialogue but this read too much like fanfiction for me, including a ~sassy~ main character who will trick every crime lord, guard, murderer, aristocrat... even at ten years old and who isn't pretty but somehow cannot have an interaction with a conventionally attractive male lead without romantic tension. I'm all for escapism and fantasy, just wasn't mine.
Also, if the main plot is fighting injustice and saving people, maybe don't include romantic fantasies of the protagonist scheming in court and flirting with a prince who of course is completely innocent because he feels bad about a few paupers his family murdered.
