The Magicians by Lev Grossman
4.0

This is a nearly adult view of a magic school and its students. Magic is easy and not, can be lethal, and is unfair.

A complex and well written story, told well with probably more words than required at times. Interesting characters and concepts. I was a little annoyed at the story within the story of Fillory. However in time it was critical to have paid attention as the two stories merged in unexpected ways.

Will look at the sequels after a short break...
