Justice for Boone by Susan Stoker
5.0
Please read the Author’s Note – you may find it interesting.
Hayden Yates is feeling left out in the love department. Boone Hatcher has an ex from hell. He also seems defeated due to some accusations. The author shows the prejudice against men when it comes to domestic abuse. I’m impressed how this author would tackle the subject of male domestic abuse. Don’t go into this story thinking that the author gets preachy – she doesn’t. And don’t think that Boone is a wimp – far from it. Something else that impressed me was that Hayden has found an older man to make her happy.
Our author doesn’t take the easy way out and have her main characters find love at first sight. Sometimes a set of circumstances can bring two people together. And you know that she really thinks about her characters. They don’t hit the sheets once they meet each other. They get to know each other first. We want a story that develops over time and not where sex is put in just for the sake of having it in a scene. Don’t expect the perfect characters here - although I shouldn’t say that because they’re perfect together.
I know that the author says that this is a stand-alone but if you want to know more about the couples mentioned during the course of this book, you may want to at least check out Justice for Mackenzie and Justice for Corrie. I will say that like a stand-alone you will not be left hanging when you get to the end but we do get an introduction to the main characters in the next book coming out in January. If you’ve never read any of Ms. Stoker’s work before, this book just may change that. This is another one of those books that I can see myself reading more than once.
I received this book for review from RockStar PR & Literacy Agency and the author. I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review.
