Never Love a Highlander
by Maya Banks
The McCabe trilogy finale! We finally get the youngest McCabe brothers story. Way back in book 1, we learn that the McCabe clan was attacked some years prior by the Cameron's. The attack was only made possible because of a woman Caelen was seeing and because of this betrayal, he of course, swore off love. After his brother fails to marry Rionna McDonald to align their clans, he steps in to keep the peace.
While this one was still very good, the payoff didn't seem as rewarding in this book. There was more to explore with Caelens past and Rionna didn't get as much characterization as the other FMCs in the series. It was still good, but nowhere near as memorable as the first two books. A bit disappointing as the end of the series but still a very solid medieval romance entry.
