groundedwanderlust 's review for:
When My Heart Was Wicked
by Tricia Stirling
I really, really wanted to like this book, and, for some of it, I did. I liked Lacy. I liked that the author didn't shy away from the grittier topics (with the huge exception of rape [she did not handle that topic well at all]). I didn't like the magic in the story. It didn't fit and felt like more of an afterthought than an actual part of the story. I didn't like that we only skim the surface of Lacy's friends and family in Chico (Zach and the Treehuggers should have had a bigger, more detailed part). I'm not sorry I read this book, but I won't want to read it again.
