Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers
by Mary Roach
This one is not for those who are faint of heart. It's gruesome, grotesque, and sometimes obscene for it vividly described everything related to the dark history of dead bodies in scientific studies. However, it is educational and informative; well-researched and extensive. It takes death at a face-value.
I think it's helpful for those who want to know what might happen to bodies and organs once donated later on to people, hospitals, and/or universities. Or what kind of treatment our dead bodies might end up with once one decide to take the course of nature like what we have known and accustomed to.
Whatever happens to us after death is something we will never know, but life goes on and so is death. It's never near or far, yet with us, always.
