We are nearing the end of the series...and once the titles for the last two books were announced, I'd always thought they were backwards. Shouldn't the penultimate book be Battle Ground and the last book be Peace Talks?
What do I know? Jim Butcher was right (obviously). This book sets up the last battle for humanity...and it couldn't be any other way.
I'm not sure Harry will make it, which puts Thomas in a VERY precarious position. Also, what about his Karrin and the kid? Ugh. the stakes are truly high.
In this story, we are dealing with family issues, prejudices and things that are out of our control.
I love that family is an issue that Harry will die for. It marks him as a person of honour. It doesn't always mean that he does the honourable thing, but it does mean that his intensions are ALWAYS honourable.
Harry is NOT in the best of shape. He's sort of on his left foot. He had to deceive his grandfather, lock up his brother (to save his life, mind you), he's going to be going into a battle that he has very little chance to win, let alone live through. BUT, in the back of our minds, he's Harry Dresden...isn't he ALWAYS the underdog? Isn't that where he does his best work.
Let's hope so, for there is a LOT at stake.
It'll a bitter moment, when I pick up Battle Ground, for we've been through a lot together, and it'll be hard to finally finish this series. Ugh.
