Alien Victor

2 stars - It was ok
When Jocelyn realizes a group of warriors is headed to the Death Plains, she slots herself into the group to collect a specific herb that acts as birth control. The journey is long and dangerous. When she is separated from the group she finds herself being saved by a warrior of the Death Plains who claims he will be the next Gahn. He swears he will protect her but also refuses to let her leave his lands.
At first I was enjoying this story. Jocelyn is a decent heroine who just wants to help her friends by gathering the herbs they so desperately need. My issue is mostly with Razek and his overprotectiveness and refusal to listen to Joceyln’s wants. It got to the point where I didn’t really like Razek at all because he just kept planning to ignore Joceyln’s wants and needs for his own selfishness. Yes he changes his mind and goes along with her in the end, but not until she gives him an ultimatum.
Another issue I had with Razek was that when they were having a serious conversation about their relationship, he would be pleasuring her and it felt like he was just manipulating her to get what he wanted because she wasn’t thinking and acting clearly. I don’t love this at all and it just further cemented that I didn’t like him.
Overall, this was probably my least favorite book so far. I still really want to know how this future battle against humans is going to go but I am struggling. I might give it one more book and if I don't really enjoy it, I will stop with this series.
