I'm conflicted about how to rate this book. It lacked a plot—let alone a plot twist. The entire story revolved around the characters' relationship, which was solely about $**. Their communication was sparse, like occasional snowflakes. While the characters were diverse in their traits and behaviors, I would say book one was better, if only because it had at least a slight plot.
Reading both books made me notice a pattern in this author's writing: men who are masculine and caring—but only when they insult their women. Meanwhile, the female characters are constantly lust-filled for such men. Her idea of love begins with $, sprinkles in some brownie points with $, and ends with $**.
I wanted to DNF this book but forced myself to finish it. In the end, I regretted putting off two other books for this one.
