Cold Magic
by Kate Elliott
This book...
The only reason I picked up this book was because I was in the mood for some Fantasy and it was the first book I found on Goodreads.
Usually, I LOVE anything SciFi or Fantasy, but this book has to be the exception. I kept reading because I told myself that it HAD TO GET BETTER!!!! Otherwise, why on earth did it have a 3.8 rating on Goodreads? The entire time I was reading it, I couldn't stay focused. Initially, I blamed myself, but I soon realized that this story probably had one of the most drawn out and unnecessary plots ever. What was the editor thinking?. I found myself skipping paragraphs, sometimes pages, at a time. On top of that, It was extremely repetitive. Yes, I know that the people Mali escaped and founded the mage houses with the Celts. No need to tell me for the billionth time!!!
The ending was in no way satisfying, but then again, its part of a trilogy. I might just read books 2 and 3 for the sake of appeasing my curiosity, but that's only because of a weakness on my part. I wouldn't recommend this book to my worst enemy.
